Neo-verse in my universe” is an essay about my/our batch’s Dumaguete workshop experience in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Silliman Writers Workshop in May 2011

Likhaan Online’s Pulitika Writing in Protest issue (April 2001) –  “Diary of a People Power 2 Survivor: Still a Work-in-Progress” is a creative nonfiction piece on how I witnessed the events leading to the ouster of then President Joseph Estrada while working in a nationally circulated political tabloid

Likhaan Online’s Tribute to NVM Gonzalez issue (November 1999) –“Fat as a literary issue: A semi-gospel according to NVM Gonzalez” is a creative nonfiction piece on my personal interaction with the late National Artist for Literature


Fiction short stories:

Likhaan Online’s Writing in the New Century issue (January 2000) – “Dissolve” is a rape story set in the film industry (eventually published in print/book form in the Silliman anthology Sands and Coral special issue entitled Futureshock)

Likhaan Online’s Gay lesbian and bisexual writing in focus issue (October 1999) – “Curve Song” is a flash fiction piece on lesbian heartbreak incorporating song lyrics in the narrative

“Tea and empathy” featured in Anvil Publishing’s GROWING UP FILIPINO: STORIES FOR YOUNG ADULTS (2003) edited by Cecilia Manguerra Brainard — about a Filipino child’s interaction with their house help, a fixture in Filipino households

“Piano Soliloquy” featured in Milflores Publishing’s SAWI: FUNNY ESSAYS, STORIES AND POEMS ON ALL KINDS OF HEARTBREAK (2007) edited by Ada Loredo, BJ Patino and Rica Bolipata-Santos — a flash fiction piece about a lesbian’s first time to deal with heartbreak from a failed relationship with her very first girlfriend

“Color their world” featured in Milflores Publishing’s VERY SHORT STORIES FOR HARRIED READERS edited by Vicente Groyon — a flash fiction piece about an accident in a Fil-Am home that happened with an effeminate boy and his younger sister who has an American stepdad and a Filipina mother
